Parkes Safe Haven - Western NSW LHD
Service Description
A Safe Haven is a place you can go if you are wanting support or you are even feeling distressed, which may include thoughts of ending your life by suicide. It is a non-clinical safe space staffed by peer workers with their own lived experience of being in a crisis, where you can talk openly about how you are feeling and what you are going through, feel supported and not judged. You can also be connected to a mental health professional if you would like this to happen and staff can support you in finding a service which may assist you with any specific stressors in your life. If you do not feel like chatting, you can spend time in a quiet space and listen to music or be provided other ways of relaxing. This is a free service, and no appointment or Medicare card is required. Visitors under 16 will be assisted in having a responsible adult join them during their visit.
