Public Guardian

Service Description

A statutory official appointed by the Guardianship Division of the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal (NCAT). This is through NCAT or the Supreme Court under the Guardianship Act. The Public Guardian's responsibilities include promoting the rights and interests of people with disability through guardianship, advocacy and education. Guardians make legal decisions on behalf of a person with a disability who is unable to make decisions on their own or without support. It includes health and welfare but never financial matters.
