Aboriginal Health Services
Service Description
Promotes Aboriginal health and Aboriginal health services throughout the health district. Culturally appropriate and accessible programs for Aboriginal people and Communities are provided. Services are available for inpatients and outpatient needs. A staff member will visit an Aboriginal patient when admitted to hospital, advise their family and liaise between the patient and hospital staff. Other services include 48 post hospital discharge follow up, Aunty Jean's Program for chronic illness and health promotion, Cancer Care, Quit Smoking, Infant Health Service, Maternal Health Service, Core of Life Pregnancy and parenting program, Building Strong Foundations, and Training for the Ministry of Health to teach behaviours and actions when delivering Aboriginal Health.
