Seniors Rights Service

Service Description

A community legal centre that protects the rights of older people. It provides telephone advice, advocacy, legal advice and educational services. Assistance and advocacy is given to people in Commonwealth funded aged care services, their carers and family members, to help them understand their rights under the Aged Care Act. It assists to resolve issues and complaints with aged care providers. Other supported issues include consumer issues such as debt management, human rights including elder abuse and discrimination, future planning of wills and guardianship, and accommodation issues.

Referral System

Anyone can refer- Will take referrals under 65 if in a nursing home. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders from 50 years.
