Gunawirra (Yarning Aboriginal Mothers Program)

Service Description

The Young Aboriginal Mothers Program (YAMP), offered in Rozelle, Westmead and Northern Sydney. YAMP is an early intervention service for women with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander children. The supports start from pregnancy up until the child is five years old. The program occurs on a weekly basis, during this time our team of Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal professionals work together alongside the women to support them and their family's needs. By focusing on and actively supporting the vital healthy links between mother and child, we aim to reduce the impact of intergenerational trauma in Aboriginal families. Our services include: Connection to culture, Individual therapy, Social work support, Speech therapy, Art therapy, Alternative therapies, Practical supports, Pregnancy and Parenting support. All services can be accessed individually for those who are not interested in joining a group.
