Service Description

The Tribunal hears applications about the treatment and care of people experiencing a mental illness. It may order a psychiatric or psychological assessment of a person who is the subject of a proceeding. It also hears applications for the release of people who are involuntarily detained under emergency detention and care, and for the administration of Electro Convulsive Therapy (ECT). May decide whether a person charged with a criminal offence is fit to plead and can make orders for their treatment and care. They may release a person held under an order, and advise the court before a sentencing. Other hearings include tenancy issues, financial agreements, discrimination, contractual disputes, and other civil matters.
