WSLHD Peer Services and Peer Workforce

Service Description

WSLHD Peer Services and Peer Workforce are a team of peer worker(s) who provide advocacy and information for consumers in all settings e.g acute inpatient, community and rehabilitation across the Western Sydney area. Peer Workers provide peer support by attending Mental Health Review Tribunal hearings and appointment as a support person. Peer Workers can assist you in a variety of ways such as listening to you, empowering you to advocate for yourself. Peer Workers also provide information and referral about services that may assist the person in their recovery. Peer workers also provide consultation around systemic advocacy and projects occuring within WSLHD Mental Health Services. Training for service staff is available with a consumer perspective. Consumers who are using inpatient services can contact a peer worker by ringing 9840 3868 or a Consumers in the Community cna contact a peer worker by calling their local community mental health team and ask to speak to a peer worker.
