Service Description

Provides control and strategic direction for cancer research and outcomes. In conjunction with the health care system, works toward cancer prevention, early detection, diagnosis, treatment and care. Funding for research and translation of research into clinical practice with data collection, and information. Manages the screening programs for BreastScreen, Bowel Screeing, and Cervical Cancer Screening. The Cancer Institute also provides information to people affected by cancer. Patient Information provides a portal to reliable information for people affected by cancer. It directs users to content relevant to their cancer type (34 different types of cancer) and their current situation or concerns. It also brings together key resources for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, multicultural communities, and other groups.
