Children of Parents with a Mental Illness (SESLHD Central Sector)
Service Description
Counselling to children 0-18 years of age, with parents who have a mental illness . Services include education, debriefing and referral to specialist services for more intensive work, counselling to parents and carers regarding managing children and family issues. Part of the Camp Kookaburra program, an annual camp for children aged 8-12 years who have a parent with a mental illness. Programs are offered during school holidays, and referrals for teenagers to peer support programs. Consulting and training is available to mental health staff.
