Peer Support
Service Description
Peer Support offers an evidence-based Peer Support Program, which can form part of your school's wellbeing strategy. There is substantial evidence that peer support programs contribute to students sense of connectedness and wellbeing. Peer Support provides workshops and resources that enable teachers to coordinate the Peer Support Program in their schools. Peer Support also provides teachers with the skills to train students as Peer Leaders. The Peer Support Program involves senior students mentoring groups of between eight and ten younger students. The peer groups meet weekly for 30-to-40-minute sessions, across eight weeks. The groups are facilitated by students and supervised by teachers. Schools can choose which module they implement each year. Modules focus on relationships, anti-bullying, optimism, resilience and values.
