Official Visitors Program NSW
Service Description
Official Visitors are people with experience in mental health treatment and care. They are appointed by the Minister for Mental Health and are independent from NSW Health. The purpose of the Official Visitors Program is to 'keep the humanity in mental health care'. Official Visitors talk to mental health consumers in mental health units, Emergency Departments, and also to people who are treated under a Community Treatment Order. Consumers, carers and staff can talk to an Official Visitor about any concerns during their visits or contact an Official Visitor by phone: 1800 208 218 (toll free) or via email: officialvisitorsprogram@health.nsw.gov.au
